I cannot perform any administrative function or change any functionality settings on my printer due to an old password necessary on every screen we navigate to. How do I factory reset it?

@FRUSTRATED761, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To perform a factory reset on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw, follow these steps:

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Ensure your printer is powered off before beginning the reset process.

Access Service Menu:

  • Press and hold the "Back" button while you power on the printer.
  • Continue holding until "Permanent Storage Init" appears on the screen.

Initiate Reset:

  • Release the "Back" button.
  • The printer will automatically start the reset process, which may take a few minutes to complete.

Completion:

  • Once the reset is finished, the printer will reboot.
  • Follow any on-screen prompts to complete initial setup like language and region settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
