Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues installing the printer on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

What is the exact model for your printer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you root uninstall the printer and then reinstall it and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.

I could not locate where it actually states model #.

Hello again,

I followed the steps as instructed.  I deleted the HP-eprint driver.

selected the link provided for the printer driver .

Entered the required info. description of my HP Printer - HP Color LaserJet 3550

Selected the link to download under DRIVER

( I did NOT download any of the Firmware )

However; during the installation process - the green bar to show the installation progress - it doesn't complete.. It only shows the completion bar going to about a 1/3 of the way.  So it would appear to me that it DID NOT install completely.'

On the upside of this - I can now see the HP Color LaserJet Printer listed under PRINTER  and NOT under OTHER DEVICES.

When I do view the printer and left click - the description under it states DRIVER NOT AVAILABLE.

Please advise

Thanks

Hello Fossette,

I have located the 7z folder  - which I have several but upon opening them - None of the folders has a UTIL folder.

It would also appear that I have all the drivers but the Windows 10 hp computer WILL NOT  list my HP Color Laser Jet Printer 3550 as a PRINTER.

It appears that it should work but I cannot print using it.  Any ideas?

Thanks
