I believe Vicktorrs solution should be explored. BBB will contact HP and have them respond.

It seems there are about 60 of us in this predicament with an unknown amount on other pages.

Here is the BBB Complaint page:

I need the reset as well

mine is stuck at the "resend firmware" page. surely there must be some facility HP can offer that will allow us to overwrite this to the previous (working) firmware?

I see one person here posting they have 10 in their fleet, and only one had the upgrade.. so the previous firmware must still work.

it's not exactly class action suit worthy, but how can we put pressure on this company to fix the issue they created?

at least release the firmware that does not brick the rollers (I don't believe mine has had that fix/fix applied as yet)

I am having the same issue. Can you please send me the instructions on how to reset my printer?

I contacted [content removed] HP tech support. Explained that my printer failed to function after an HP updated from October. The tech waived the consult fee. HOWEVER she was not able to "fix" my printer. She did try, we were on the phone for at least two hours. HER supervisor told her that there was nothing else for me to do and to replace the printer. No buy back, no credit no discount. I save my old printers and will have to see if it will fire up.

There is supposedly a Service Advisory now out for this. The created a case for the customer unit I have in shop. Waiting for an update on that case. I am also trying to get a copy of that advisory so I can see what it entails. Will keep you all in the loop.

Thank you for being a volunteer.

My tech tried several times to install older firmware. 2014. She had control of the laptop. My M281fdw is still stuck in the Resend Upgrade screen. We did the hold the printer screen on both the right and left lower sides. I DONOT recommend doing this without supervision. It could cause firmware damage if not done correctly!!

can you please elaborate on the "both sides of screen" process? I must have missed the instructions. mine now says "resend upgrade" rather than "resend firmware". I'm assuming I need more detail on that process

Resend upgrade error can be fixed by late october firmware, with that successful update, then upper roller stops working and jams paper , another dec 15 update rolled out and installed, roller still not working jamming paper. Someone earlier states that there is a hardware fix that requires opening the printer and rotate slightly the upper roller and it will fix the jamming. It didn't because the problem it's not only roller motor non functional but a push-pull selenoid. All of this was cause by a OTA firmware update, I will try to read the log and hopefully get proof so I can seek legal advise to go class action.

I will only recommend DONOT do the reset unless you know the model and how to do it correctly.
