HP DeskJet 2722e All-in-One Printer
Android 9.0 Pie

Hi,

We're being prompted for an administrative password on our HP Deskjet 2722e when using the HP Smart App / Printer Web Interface to perform a firmware update. We've never set this password in our household.

The reason we'd like to restore factory settings is none of us in the house can print from either our Android phones or laptops. From a MacBook, the print status is stuck on "Hold for authentication". When we retry and are prompted with a password, we have no idea what password is required.

Much appreciate any help with the above.

Hi @PhilIvo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

Are you using a Home Wifi or a Wifi direct or a Hotspot?

If you are using Wifi Direct, try 12345678 and see if this works.

If it's WIfi Network Password, it's the network password you are trying to connect the printer to.

If it's Printer PIN, it can be found in the Cartridge access area or simply press the "I" button on the printer and the information can be found on the printed page.

Or we need to perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
