Microsoft Windows 11

Good Morning,  I have an old Deskjet F380 that I want to print to via USB but cannot seem to get it connect.  I have the driver downloaded and when I send the test page it just sits in the Queue.  I have it checked as my default and tried unplugging and restarting.  Any Suggestions?

Hi @Melody2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify USB Connection

  • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • Try using a different USB cable to rule out any cable issues.
  • Connect the USB cable to another USB port on your computer.

Restart Print Spooler Service

  1. Open Services:
    • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
    • Type services.msc and press Enter.
  2. Restart Print Spooler:
    • Locate the "Print Spooler" service in the list.
    • Right-click on it and select Restart.

Reinstall Printer Driver

  1. Uninstall Old Driver:
    • Open Control Panel.
    • Go to Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on the F380 printer and select Remove device.
    • Follow prompts to uninstall the driver.
  2. Reinstall Driver:
    • Download the latest driver for HP Deskjet F380 from the HP Support website.
    • Follow the installation instructions and reconnect the printer via USB when prompted.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, missing system updates can cause compatibility issues.
  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security.
  2. Click on Check for updates.

I hope this helps.
