No matter what i do, I can no longer print directly to any HP printers from my laptop. I can print to other printers such as Epson, Canon. I can get my printer to scan when told to by my desktop. I can print diagnostic pages or other internal pages, but if I try to print any document, it gets sent to the print que.....then you see it start self-deleting, and then completely disappears. I have 2 different HP deskjet printers and they both behave the same way and they began having the exact same problem at the exact same time.

There are many other threads I found discussing the same potential issue, and I have followed every single recommended process of removing every detail about my HP printers and the drivers etc. and then re-installing either full packager or basic driver sets, and no matter what I do or how I do it, it still does the exact same thing.....NO PRINT.

I try it as a wireless printer, I try it through the USB cable.....it just will not print from my laptop. I can connect to either printer from my phone or ipad and print directly from them with no problems. So, whatever the issue is, its related to my laptop or the drivers that I am able to use.

I do not have an install disk, so I am at the mercy of downloading drivers directly from online which may somehow be part of the problem.

Again, I have tried everything found on any forum that even remotely talked about the kind of issue I am having, and I tried it multiple times....like 20+ times easily over the last few months. I dont want to buy new printers and I am determined to figure this out, but I need someone with an idea that has not been discussed.

Please send some help my way if anyone has an idea or solution.

@Ison22, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue. This could be an issue with the drivers not being configured incorrectly, I'd suggest you completely uninstall the printer drivers.

Now, I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your response Tej1602, but unfortunately I have already tried that one multiple times in multiple ways as well.

Please send any other advice or troubleshooting suggestions you can.

Do you have an anti-virus software installed? If yes, temporarily disable that.

Try these steps - Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed. Remove the printer driver. > Restart the computer and try downloading the printer driver again.

If the issue still persists, try creating a new user account and check -

1. Tap the Windows icon.
2. Select Settings.
3. Tap Accounts.
4. Select Family & other users.
5. Tap "Add someone else to this PC."
6. Select "I don't have this person's sign-in information."
7. Select "Add a user without a Microsoft account."
8. Enter a username, type the account's password twice, enter a clue and select Next.
9. Tap the Windows icon.
10. Select the User icon at the upper left corner of the Start menu.
11. Select the new user. You'll then sign into your account with your password from step 8.

Keep me posted.

The only anti-virus I have ever had installed on this computer was the Microsoft Security Essentials and Microsoft Defender. And yes, I have disable both of those and turned off Windows Firewall. Tried this in multiple variations and multiple times. The last time, I actually uninstalled MSE completely and nothing has changed. Still does the exact thing.

I fully unistalled every printer I had installed on my system except PDF Architech and PDF Creator.

As i mentioned before, I combed through every support post or recommended trial troubleshooting on this issue in every forum I could and none of these suggestions worked. I agree something is blocking something, I just thing its so crazy this is so hard to determine.

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue. Try the steps below-

  • Make sure you've installed the latest updates for Windows 10, and then restart your machine. To find out more, read Update Windows 10.
  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Command Prompt, and right-click or press and hold Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the list of results. Select Run as administrator, and then select Yes.
  • Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the space before each "/"), and then press Enter. (Note: This step may take a few minutes to start and up to 30 minutes to complete.)
  • After you see a message that says "The operation completed successfully," type sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/") and press Enter.
  • After you see a message that says, "Verification 100% complete," type exit.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
