Well it looks like I might need those reset instructions after all, unless this is an unrelated issue. The blue screen isn't happening anymore, and I am able to print just fine. However, today I went to make a copy and on the control panel when I touch the "touch for preview" it just shows a black garbled image and I went ahead and tried to do the copy anyway and it just came out the exact same way as it shows in the preview a black garbled image. I tried to flip the paper the other way that I was trying to copy but, still same black garbled image apeparing. I have attached a copy of the image here:

Thank you very much for sharing that image.  It really helps to know that you should be able to do the reset.  It looks like a hardware problem and a reset can only do so much.  After examining what you see on the screen of the printer, a reset will be a risky step, so please be aware of that going forward.

--Printer Resets: What You Should Know--

An example of what I think could happen is, let's say you do the reset, but the screen comes back worse than before and then you will not be able to use the Wireless Setup Wizard to get the printer connected to the router because you won't see your options.  I don't think anything else could happen but just be aware that if you do proceed and, in the event, the printer is in worse condition than before, I nor HP would be responsible for that kind of damage because you did it on your own accord and was provided the most thorough warning I have ever given anyone (this is in reference to previous comments on this thread on how and why it is private). I'm happy to inform you of that, confident the reset could help more than hurt, and will gladly send that information to you via private message here on the forums. 🙂

Hey davidjmt,

I see you are having an issue with the EWS password for your Envy 114.  I would advise restoring the network defaults for this printer to set this state back to the default without a password.

Restore Network Defaults:

  • Press the Wrench in the upper right of the touch display to access the Setup Menu
  • Select the Wireless submenu
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list and select "Restore Network Defaults"

I hope this helps,

Jason

P.S. - The Envy 114 is a particular model of the Envy 110 series printer.  The computer will often list the base series and not the specific subgroup that the printer is labeled as.

To help anyone who may be having this problem in 2016 like me, this is what worked for me after seeing the same reply from HP reps from other forums suggesting to simply unplug the printer and plug it into a wall outlet (which does not work). I did unplug the printer (from my surge protector) and plugged it back in then I immediately removed the power cord directly from the back of the printer before it had the chance to initalize. I only waited for about 30 seconds before I re-connected the power cord, but once I did that and let the printer fully boot I have not had any issue ever since.
