I typed in my serial number [edited]but it was saying invalid number. That is the number from the sticker on the printer, HP Envy 5530. It is printing blank pages when I try to print from my Macbook Air (OS 15.5 Sequioa). I've tried connected it directly to the laptop and it does not work. I have tried reseting the wifi and it does not work. I have tried a different wifi network and it does not work. There are new ink cartridges in there as well. My roommate has a different printer and the same thing happens when she tries to print from her laptop as well. What do I do?

For the serial number invalid issue, please recheck the serial number and see if it's 1 or l, I or L, B and 8 and check once. 

Now, Let's work together to get your HP Envy 5530 printing properly from your MacBook Air running macOS 15.5 (Sequoia). Since you've already tried several steps, here's a more targeted troubleshooting guide:

Check Ink Levels and Printhead Health

Even with new cartridges, dried ink or clogged printheads can cause blank pages.

  • On the printer touchscreen, go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Run the cleaning cycle up to 3 times if needed.
  • Print a test page directly from the printer using the Information button (i).

Update Printer Firmware

macOS 15.5 may require updated firmware for compatibility.

Reset Printing System on macOS

This clears old drivers and settings that may conflict.

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose "Reset printing system…".
  • Re-add the HP Envy 5530 using AirPrint or the HP driver.

Use HP Smart App for Setup

HP Smart ensures proper driver installation and connectivity.

  • Download from the Mac App Store. Or HP Smart
  • Open the app and follow the guided setup to add your printer.

Try Printing from Preview

To rule out app-specific issues:

  • Open a document in Preview.
  • Go to File > Print, and ensure the correct printer and paper settings are selected.
