Hi. I have been having trouble with 2 seperate 5540's. They do not print the whole of a bank statement. The statements have alternate grey and white backgrounds behind the text for the financial activities. The problem is with the grey background; the text is more often not shown in this area.
Has anyone else experienced problems with this? I have tried changing the doc and print settings but nothing seems to work. It is happening to 2 different printers so I expect it is a software fault. Any ideas?

Thanks Jeet, however it is not an issue with the ink, cartridges or paper.
The problem only happens when I am printing bank statements which have alternate lines with the text with a grey background. The printer will only print the grey background and not the text, which is black.
Some parts are fine but in every statement there are always bits missing.
Any ideas?
Many thanks
Andrew

Hi @ApronsAndrew,
Thank you for replying,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
As I understand you are having issues printing bank statements, don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
Just wanted to check if you are trying to print using PDF or using Excel.
If it's using PDF, I would suggest you try to print using an image.
If it's using Excel, I would suggest you try to uninstall and reinstall the full feature software.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13 ). Restart the PC
14 ). Now click on this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61235/mp-147821-1/EN5540_Full_WebPack_1119.exe and install the updated printer drivers for your printer.
15 ). Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a superb week ahead.

Thought we had cracked it, just printed two statements perfectly. The next one only partially printed.
The downloaded file is .form and I have tried saving as pdf or jpeg but niether programme is compatable.
I have removed and reinstalled the programme with latest updates, but still not working.
I will keep trying, works fine on other printers.
Many thanks
Andrew

Hello, @ApronsAndrew
I see that you were interacting with @Jeet_singh. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂
Since the statement is printing fine on other printers, then the issue could be with the drivers. Try to install the printer using the Windows built in drivers and see if that works.
Windows built-in drivers are the ones included within the operating system and do not require an external download. Follow step 3 here to install the printer using the Windows built-in drivers: http://hp.care/2nxKJv8
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

Hi DVortex
Thanks for helping out. I have followed the instructions and thought we had cracked it. The first two statements were single pages and printed fine. The next one has three pages to print, again the first page printed fine but the other two had the old problem.
I have tried downloading as pdf but the file is a form file (.form) and wont open except with dodgy looking programmes that offer free download and then want to charge to actually use them.
I think I need to give up and try another model or make of printer.
Thanks anway for your help.

Hello, @ApronsAndrew
Thanks for the update!
Can you try using a different browser to access your web-statement and try printing? It could be an issue with the browser compatibility with the printer.
Also found a helpful document about the .form file type and how to open them. Check the details here: https://adobe.ly/2vrsaJy
Hope that helps!
Cheers 🙂
