Regularly after a period of inactivity the printer will not wake from sleep and my computer cannot find the printer on the network. Printer lights etc look normal but no button responds, not even the off switch at the back of the printer will turn off the printer. Pulling out the mains cord and waiting 30 secs resets the printer and then it works normal again. I see there was a thread in this forum on the same subject in 2021 but no effective solution was offered. According to HP Print Smart App my firmware which has been updated this year is up to date.

Hi @Travellingdog,
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd like to help!
You cannot disable sleep mode. Let's change the duration of the sleep mode option here:
1. From the Home screen, touch Setup. 2. Touch Power Handling. 3. Touch Sleep Mode, and then touch the desired option.
If this doesn't help, let's assign a manual IP address to the Printer:
Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
If this does not help, Let's restore the network settings on the Printer:
1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless), and then touch Settings. 2. Touch Restore Network Settings. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Once done, connect the printer to the network again:
1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch (Wireless). 2. Touch Settings. 3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for your response but this printer has no Home Screen, just a few buttons on the control panel.
..and while I appreciate any help I'm surprised that no definite fix hasn't been found in the last two years since the previous thread on this subject in this forum. Also with so many suggestions it could take me a long time to determine if the problem has been fixed as it doesn't happen every time on waking from sleep. It's usually after the printer has been standing unused for a week or two that this happens.
