HP Envy 6155e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a new HP Envy 6100e series.  I cannot get it direct connected to my desktop.  I do NOT want to connect via wireless.  I can't get any live setup support from HP even though I'm under warranty (it's a brand new just out of box printer).  How the heck do you get a real live person?  I've tried submitting an HP ticket.  All I get is a problem number with no way I can see to get to a real person.  And, no one ever contacts me - either electronically or phone.  Isn't there real time support on set-up?

I needed to print so I connected wirelessly and am able to print that way ... until this morning.  My internet is up and running (using many other devices), but the printer continues to say (via wi-fi network test results page print) Wi-Fi On = Pass, Wi-Fi Working = Pass, Strength = Excellent; but, Connectivity Connected: Fail

I'm disgusted with this printer.  Help!

Hi @mrFisherUSA

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

My sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused to you. We'd hate for you to be stuck in a situation like this. Because you matter to us.

You're handling this issue with great persistence, and I admire your patience! Since your HP Envy 6100e series printer isn't connecting via USB and is now failing to print wirelessly, let's go through some troubleshooting steps.

Fix USB Connection Issues

Check USB Cable & Port

  • Ensure you're using a high-quality USB cable (preferably the one provided by HP).
  • Try a different USB port on your desktop.

Install HP Drivers for USB Setup

  • Download the latest HP Envy 6100e series drivers from HP’s support page.
  • Follow the installation steps and select USB connection during setup.

Manually Add the Printer via USB

  • Open Control PanelDevices and PrintersAdd a Printer.
  • Select USB Printer and follow the prompts.

Fix Wireless Connection Issues

Forget & Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to SetupNetwork SettingsWi-Fi.
  • Select Forget Network, then reconnect using your Wi-Fi credentials.

Assign a Static IP Address

  • Open HP Smart or your router’s settings and manually assign a static IP to the printer.
  • This prevents the printer from switching between network addresses.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to SetupRestore Network Defaults.
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi after the reset.

Since your printer is showing conflicting network messages, resetting both the printer’s network settings and router settings might help.

Let me know how it goes—you're handling this issue with great patience! 🚀
