Hi, I recently purchased this printer from someone, and after a few days, I encountered a registration error. I've attempted to register multiple times using the web and the phone app. Each time, I reach the confirmation page thanking me for registering and stating that I will receive an email—but I never receive it, and the printer remains non-functional.

I've explored various support options but have been unable to resolve the issue. I also followed HP’s official guides step by step, but unfortunately, they did not help.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?

Thanks,

Hi @MHR1231

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a registration error with your HP Envy Inspire 7255e printer, it likely means there's a problem connecting the printer to your HP account during setup, which could be caused by issues with your network connection, outdated HP Smart app, incorrect account details, or a problem with the printer itself; try updating the HP Smart app, double-checking your network connection, restarting the printer, and verifying your HP account details; if the issue persists, please try the below steps and let me know how it goes.

Please remove the Cartridges from the Printer if possible and try Hard Reset do keep us posted to help you better

** Hard reset :
1. Turn the printer On, if it is not already on.
2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Please uninstall the HP Smart app --> restart the Device, Wi-Fi router and printer --> install it back and check

Please update the Firmware the link will help on how to update the firmware on the printer or devices Link: Click here

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi VikramTheGreat,

Thank you so much for the reply. Except for plugging out from the back and the socket simultaneously, I did these steps before. My problem is that when I register on the web portal, it shows that I will receive a registration email that I should keep safe and use to access my account. I never receive that email. Could you please register my device?

Thanks again,

Hi @MHR1231,

I’d be happy to assist you! 😊 Please provide the printer’s serial number, so I can look into this for you.

Also, could you clarify whether you’re trying to register on the HP Support Assistant tool to update the warranty or if you’re looking to enroll in an HP service, such as HP Instant Ink or HP All-in Plan?

Let me know, and I’ll do my best to help! 👍

Hi, I followed all the steps including firmware update. The problem still not resolved. The serial number is TH1CKGX0RM.  i  tried to register via smart app and via register.hp.com.

Hi @MHR1231,

"Thank you for sharing the printer serial number. I looked up the details and found that the printer is already registered under your name. However, I also noticed that the warranty expired on January 16, 2023.

Additionally, I checked your Instant Ink account linked to the same printer serial number, and it appears to be suspended due to a billing issue. There is a pending payment of $14.82 USD for the period from 06/07/2024 to 08/06/2024.

Could you please confirm if you’re reaching out regarding the Instant Ink account issue or if you need help with a different registration concern? I’d be happy to assist you further!"

 I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

HI Vikram

I never intended to subscribe to any instant ink account. This concept is alien to me, and I haven't digested it yet. Please detach me from this ink program and reset my account so I can use the printer as a normal old-school printer.

HP Recommended

Hi @MHR1231,

If you want to cancel the ink subscription, please try the below steps

Steps to Cancel Instant Ink:

1️. Log in to your HP Instant Ink account
2️. Cancel your current plan under "Manage Subscription"
3️. Wait for cancellation confirmation (Ensure your printer is set up with standard ink in the meantime)

Please note that once you cancel your HP Ink subscription, your current Instant Ink cartridges will no longer work. To continue printing, you will need to purchase and install regular HP ink cartridges. Let me know if you need any help finding the right ones, we can help you buy from our HP stores.

Keep me posted

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Vikram,

I dont recall subscribing to the ink subscription. Just for confirmation, I visited the HP instant ink link and then to my profile page. It shows that I have no subscription. If there is a subscription, it could be through a previous owner and account. How are you able to see this serial number linked to my account? I cant see it. Please register this serial number to my account. Please..
