My printer is an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28a without wi-fi. The PC operating system is MS Windows 10. There are only buttons CANCEL, COPY and ON/OFF.
After a successful firmware update (20230403, 5.0 MB, Jun 12, 2023) the green light keeps blinking and the printer is useless.

I want to remove the current firmware update and to reset my printer to the original factory installed firmware.

Please, give me instructions. Thanks in advance.

Which green light is flashing, see here?

The problem is that when I turn the printer on, the power light is steady and after some 10 seconds starts blinking forever. It seems that the printer is not able to communicate with the PC bidirectionally.

I relate this weird behavior to the firmware update as stated above. The question is how to roll back the original factory built-in firmware before this update.

Download the manual.

Was the FW update carried out as described here?

Without any numerical information?

With the printer turned on, unplug the power cable and unplug the USB cable.

Turn the printer back on (without connection to pc) the power is blinking?

Print "device information", what is the FW-Version?

Also print Supply Status, are all OK?

Need this information.

Hello Andr-1611, thank you for your time and efforts to help me to solve this situation.

I will provide you with any information that you need

>>>Was the FW update carried out as described here?

Yes, it was.

>>>Without any numerical information?

I do not understand which numerical information you refer to.

>>>With the printer turned on, unplug the power cable and unplug the USB cable.

>>>Turn the printer back on (without connection to pc) the power is blinking?

Unfortunately, the power is still blinking after all of the above.

>>>Print "device information", what is the FW-Version?

>>>Also print Supply Status, are all OK?

My PC Microsoft Windows 10 cannot access the printer. It does not exist for the system.

>>>Need this information.

This is all. for the time being.

There is another issue. When I open HP Printer Assistant, i.e. its HP Device Toolbox the response is:

"There is a problem communicating with the printer. Check your USB connection and verify that the printer is ready."

The green blinking power key shows that it is not ready. I know for sure that the USB cable is ok.

Is it possible that the new firmware, installed exactly in accordance with the instructions, has damaged the printer in an unrepairable way? 😞

Open HP Smart (without Internet), then you can print!

Hi Andr-1611. Unfortunately, HP Smart is unable to find my printer at all, though the printer is connected properly to the USB port via USB cable. ☹️
