I'm not able to print to my HP LaserJet cp1025nw after upgrading to OS X Catalina. I've tried installing that last possible drivers for the printer, but when I try to print I get a "filter" failed error and nothing prints. Any help in how to continue to use the printer with Catalina would be very welcome.

Hi @hoenikker
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "filter" failed error.
HP LaserJet Pro CP1025nw Color Printer is AirPrint compatible. If the printer is connected to your home network, use the following steps to remove the existing printer driver and setup the printer with Apple AirPrint.
Please ensure that the Mac is up to date with it's software. If you are unsure you may use the steps available here to update Mac software.
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint or secure AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
Let me know how it goes!

Hello,
The instructions unfortunately did not work for me. The problem is step #5. Under the "Use" menu there is no option for AirPrint. If I try to add the printer from the "IP" menu, there is an option for AirPrint there, but that is never able to connect to the printer. The printer is definitely on the same network as my computer (confirmed through printer utility print out).
Also, just to be clear. My printer is not listed as a "Pro" model, as was referenced in the response. It is literally the "HP LaserJet CP1025nw" according to the front of the print and according to the printer utility print out -- not sure if that impacts AirPrint compatibility if it's not a "pro" model?
Do you have any other things I could try?

As my message stated, under the "Default" tab Airprint is NOT an option in the menu next to "Use:" The only options for the "Use:" menu are "HP LaserJet CP1025nw", or "Auto Select", or "select software...". I have tried all of the available options and it always leads to the "filter failed" error when trying to print.
Again, I do NOT see AirPrint as an option in the Default tab.
Do you have any other ideas for what could be going on or how to fix it?

Try the below steps and then try re-adding your printer to the computer-
1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
2. Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.
3. Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.
4. Click Reset or OK.
5. If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK.
The printing system resets.
6. Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.
7. Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
8. In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button.
Select your printer from the list, and then click Add. It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.
then select airprint and add the printer to the computer
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello,
I followed the suggested steps to reset the printing system, however I still get the "Stopped - 'Filter' failed" message upon trying to print. I also did not see "Airprint" as an option to add the printer under the "Use" menu. What would cause my computer not to have "Airprint" as an option in the "Use" menu?
Thanks,
