HP Laser 1008w

My HP Laserjet 1008w printer is not connecting to router WiFi. I am using macOS, Sequoia 15.5 and iPhone iOS version is 18.5. Also, downloaded HP Smart app on both the devices.

I have downloaded HPSmart on both the devices, but still it is not working!

Hi @idatta,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP LaserJet 1008w WiFi connectivity issues with macOS and iOS!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Network Compatibility:

  • Ensure that your router is compatible with the printer's network specifications, such as frequency bands (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).

Printer Compatibility:

  • Verify that your HP LaserJet 1008w is compatible with macOS and iOS versions for wireless printing. Some older printer models may have limited wireless support for newer operating systems.

Router and Network Settings:

  • Restart your router to refresh the network connection. Ensure that your router’s SSID (network name) is visible and no special characters are used.
  • Make sure firewall settings or MAC filtering is not blocking the printer's access to the network.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart App on your Mac and iPhone to ensure the app is properly configured for your devices.
  • Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.

Printer Setup:

  • Verify if the printer needs to be placed into a specific mode for WiFi connection setup. This could be pushing a WiFi button or using a menu setting on the printer.

Wi-Fi Connectivity:

  • Check if there’s a need to reset network settings or perform a factory reset on the printer, if available.

Update Firmware:

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your HP printer to ensure it supports the latest macOS and iOS connectivity features.

Manual Connection:

  • Attempt to connect your printer using a manual setup if automatic discovery fails. Directly input SSID and password via the printer's control panel, if applicable.
