MFP M140W
Microsoft Windows 11

I am helping a friend with an HP MFP M140W connected by wifi to a HP laptop running win 11.  The printer will not reliably print.  He will call i will go over and it won;t work. I run diagnositics from HP smart get no errors. Sometimes after repeated failed attempts it starts printing but I have no idea what I've done that makes it work. Sometimes a week later it will stop working again.

Having tried everything else I could with no success I removed all existing software downloaded the HP Smart app.  The printer was recognized it asked for the pin the printer then produced a page with the pin. The printer then said ready. I printed a document it did not print. I went to the print que and found an error message from Windows I cleared it and tried again same result.

The printer can print it works fine from my iphone but will not do so from his computer. Is it possible to run from via the USB port on its back.

Hi @Chimester

(1) Connect a USB cable between printer and computer:

(2) Then try to install with HP Print Doctor:
