iMac and MacBook Air both running OS X 10.13.2. HP software is current. Print wirelessly and printer states wireless on and connected. Trying to print Word doc and Pages doc. Receive screen msg re: printer stating at different attempts "The Printer is not connected; Printing - Looking for printer" and "Idle. Printer is not responding".
Using prior experience instructions I have 1) turned off printer, computer, router; 2) removed power cords from printer and router; 3) waited 30 seconds; 4) plugged back in power cords on printer and router; powered on router; 5) powered on perinter and computer. Printer not working from either computer.
Can (and successfully did) print from the printer itself "Wireless Network Test Results" and "HP Network Configuration Page" with the latter displaying "Wireless Direct - Status - OFF". Did printer factory reset. Did new wireless setup to router and got message connected. Reprinted "HP Network Configuratiion Page" to check and "Wireless Direct - Status - Off" is still present. Printer still won't print.
Do not know what to try next. Thoughts? Directions?

Hi @hay3911,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
I understand you are having issues while printing from your HP OfficeJet Printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
Let's start off by assigning a static IP address:
Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
If the issue persists, perform a reset printing to completely fix this issue as suggested below:
Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
Click the “Add button” (+).
Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
Click “Print Using...” or “Use”, and then select Secure AirPrint or AirPrint. Alternatively, you may select the name of your printer if available in that list.
For Mac: HP Printers - Printer is Offline (Mac)
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Eagerly waiting for your response!
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Hi Jeet,
I am back in the "soup" on my print/no print issue below. It has stopped printing again - unless I connect my iMac running OS X v 10.13.2 High Sierra to my HP Officejet Pro 8610 [495491].
I ended up using your "second" recommendation by deleting the HP 8610 from my iMac and from my wife's MacBook Air with same Mac OS X. I then tried to add it back to the iMac and it would not add. I then tried connecting the iMac tothe HP 8610 with an ethernet cable and the HP 8610 was subsequently detected and added to the iMac printer list. I tried to print via the ethernet cable and it printed perfectly - no issue. I disconnected the ethernet cable from both machines, made sure iMac was connected to the modem/router wirelessly and HP 8610 was also showing Wireless network as "ON" (I did a Wireless Setup Wizard to be sure), I then tried to print wirelessly and nothing happened - it won't print wirelessly.
I went back to you instructions and tried to follow the initial instruction list (obtaining the IP address, typing it into a browser to obtain the EWS page, and go to the Network tab - General - Select Network Protocols, and select IPv4. However, there was no Network tab on the EWS page, my iMac computer, or the HP 8610 where I could select "Enable IPv4". I did find on the HP 8610 under Wireless Settings-Advanced Settings IP Settings:Automatic; IP Address: IPv6 - ON. Also under Wireless Details I found the IP address as 169.254.85.93 whereas on the Network Configuration Page it is reported as IPv4 IP Address 192.168.1.102.
All of this leaves me thinking that the machines may not be communicationg wirelessly with each other due to differneces in the IP versions and IP Addresses. If so, can this be resolved and how? If this is not the underlying issue, what is and how can it be resolved so I can print wirelessly from my iMac (and subseqeuntly from our MacBook Air)?
Do you need any printouts from my HP 8610 or iMac to assist in your consideration of resolution? I can print them from the HP 8610 and then using the ethernet cable connect the machines and scan them to the iMac and then attach items to an email to you.
Bottom line - I'm stuck, in over my head, and frustrated. This HP 8610 has been a dream to use for all purposes as have our Mac computers, both working quite well together.
Thanks for considering this request.

Hi Jeet,
Have you seen my 01-24-2018 Reply Post as yet? I have some additional information to help you assess my continuing issue.
I did further print testing yesterday and received the following results:
1) iMac OS X 10.13.3 wireless to AT&T ARRIS NVG589 WiFi Modem & wireless to HP Officejet Pro 8610 = NO PRINT
2) iMac OS X 10.13.3 ethernet cable wired directly to HP Officejet Pro 8610 = PRINTS
3) iMac OS X 10.13.3 wireless to AT&T ARRIS NVG589 WiFi Modem & enternet cable wired to HP Officejet Pro 8610 = PRINTS
This tells me that the issue is most likely either within the AT&T ARRIS NVG589 WiFi Modem as the intermediate wireless "transition point" between the computer to printer - or - within the HP Officejet Pro 8610 as the final destination for the wireless signal.
I tried one additional "test" using my iPhone (iOS 11.2.5) to send a document to print on the HP Officejet Pro 8610 Network with it set on Wireless. (NOTE: I was in the same room as the printer when I sent the print request). The result: the message setn from the iPhone printed perfectly. This makes me think that IF the iPhone sent the print job wirlessly DIRECTLY to the HP Officejet Pro 8610, then there is nothing wrong with the printer and the issue must lie within the AT&T ARRIS NVG589 WiFi Modem. However, if the iPhone sent the print job wirelessly through the AT&T ARRIS NVG589 WiFi Modem, then I am at a loss as to know why it would print when it won't print wireless directly from either of our computers or from the computers through the AT&T ARRIS NVG589 WiFi to the printer.
Can you help?

Hi Jeet,
We can wrpa this subject up now. I reached out to AT&T who provides the AT&T ARRIS NVG589 wi-fi modem. They did an online diagnostic and refreshment of the unit and the wireless printing aspect has come back intom operation. Prints oaky from my computer to my HP printer. All apears to be well.
I thank you again for your efforts to find a solution for me. HP Community Forum is great and you folks who provide possible solutions are wonderful.
Have a great day,
