I have not been able to "Scan to Email" since my printer upgraded to firmware OJP8730_8740_2107A. How do I find and revert to the previous firmware version to test/verify the relationship  between the firmware version and the problem?

I get  "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again." when I run the outgoing email test.

I had been using a CompuServe (AOL) email as the outgoing account for years. CompuServe (AOL) is changing their email security, so I guessed that might be the problem. I changed the outgoing account to the same account (on secureserver.net) and setup that I use for printer alerts. The setup works for printer alerts and still fails for Scan to Email. The next test is to use a previous firmware version to see if the problem goes away, but I cannot find anything other than the current version.

Help!

Hi,

This is unlikely due the firmware update, but due to recent AOL security changes.

Please try creating an App Specific Password and use it for your printer instead the standard password:

May you see any difference then?

@ShlomiL,

Thanks for your response, but I don't think it applies. The HP 8740 is no longer using CompuServe, AOL, or their mail servers/accounts. AOL is no longer involved. My HP 8740 is using the same non-AOL setup for Printer Alerts and Scan to Email.

BTW, something clobbered your link

There are many email services getting updated security which block printers from connecting with higher standard, I'm personally not familiar with secureserver  so can't suggest much specifically.

Could you please try using below link to generate an App Specific Password and test it with your original account? may you see any difference then?
