My 9010 does not have the Settings menu described here. Has anyone had any luck with this problem on a 9010? I disconnected from the power source and printer as instructed by the HP Virtual Assistant and that didn't work. When I first reconnected the power, it started to download and then stopped and got the same error message. Ugh....this sucks. Can't turn the printer off or use any of the print/copy/scan options.

I feel your pain. You need to download and install the HP Smart app on your laptop or phone. Once you have the app installed, HP Smart will recognize your HP 9010 series printer and you will be able to turn off firmware updates. Good luck. Bob R.

This is for everyone unable to access the 'Advanced Settings' section in your HP Smart Printer Settings. Go to your printer's settings on the actual printer, then go down to 'Web Services Setup' and then hit 'Display Email Address'. Ensure that the email address it shows is the same one you used for HP Smart. If not, attempt to sign in to that email address on HP Smart instead. You can view what email you're using on HP Smart by clicking on the icon in the Top Left. If that isn't it, then I honestly don't know. Hopefully this helps. 🙂

When I tried to follow your suggestion, I went into printer settings and the only menu option I had that said “settings” was “advanced settings.” However, when I click on that it says “cannot open printer home or EWS page. This feature is not available.” So, I have no idea what to do. It keeps trying to download (only in the middle of the night) and I can’t do anything to stop it and yet, the download will never go through. This is an absolute nightmare. Help!

I can't find how to turn off updates on my hp office jet pro all in one printer even by following these directions Why? I also get, in the printer updates, in printer maintenance, "This feature has been locked by the person who set up printer."
I've had this printer a few years now and this issue pops up. Help

Thanks to TomAlv. I won't be marking my similar post as Accepted Solution yet, as this is a work-around rather than a solution. But, this fixes my immediate problem. I can now print at will. Also gets my wife off my back. LOL
