Microsoft Windows 11

A few week ago I received a new printer the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e.

At the start of the setup installation I received an error.

It said that one of the Setup cartirdges (the yellow one) was leaking.

So I checked it but nothing was wrong with it. I unplugged them all a few times but the error continued after that I tried new unused cartridges (not SETUP cartridges) but I needed to do it with setup cartridges so it didn't work either, I decided to reset the printer and start from the beginning. Now I got the error that I need to use unused cartridges. That means that the setup cartridges I have no longer work. I decided to contact HP Support, I have been calling with them several times but with no success. They send me new cartridges but those aren't setup cartridges. I can't seem to bypass this error message.

Does anyone know a solution to bypass this or to make my new cartridges into setup cartridges.HP Printer 1.jpgHP Printer 2.jpgHP Printer 3.jpgHP Printer 4.jpgHP Printer 5.jpgHP Printer 6.jpgHP Printer 7.jpg

It is asking for new, unused cartridges.  You must have bypassed the setup cartridge requirements.

Possibly the firmware upgrade will help and it can be found here.

Try powering it off and back on using the cartridges you were sent as discussed here.

The message about leaking cartridge seems to happen not just to you.

Possibly leaking ink got the electrical contacts dirty and they need to be cleaned.

Some printers have a printhead cleaning procedure.

To clean the printhead on an HP printer, access the printer settings through the HP Smart app, navigate to "Print Quality Tools," and select "Clean Printhead"; this will initiate a cleaning cycle where the printer will automatically run a cleaning process to clear any clogs in the printhead

This link shows cleaning the 8600 printhead and removal is shown here.
This is another type of printhead cleaning, different from the above.

This is a new system and the printer and ink are all under warranty.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have earlier called HP Support again, someone very helpful has found  a solution.

So on the printer screen u see * and # to bypass it I tap         * # * *     I open the printer access door and close it again. This method helped me bypass the setup cartridges and now the printer is fully functioning.

Thank you!

I made a copy of what you wrote as I expected it to be deleted. Some of these secret codes cause problems on other printers.
