@Rolf555, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand you're experiencing very long delays and tiny print output when printing from your HP OfficeJet 3830. Let's walk through some steps to resolve both issues.

Reset the Printer

A simple reset can often resolve performance issues:

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
  5. Turn the printer back on.

Fix Tiny Print Output

This is often caused by incorrect scaling or print settings:

  1. Open the document you're trying to print.
  2. Go to File > Print.
  3. Click Printer Properties or Preferences.
  4. Under the Paper/Quality tab, ensure the correct paper size is selected.
  5. Under Layout or Advanced, check that Scaling is set to 100% or Fit to Page.
  6. Click OK and try printing again.

Resolve Slow Printing

Slow printing can be caused by settings or connectivity issues:

  • Turn off Quiet Mode:
    • Open the HP Smart app > Select your printer > Advanced Settings > Quiet Mode > Set to Off.
  • Reduce Print Quality:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click your printer > Printing Preferences.
    • Set Print Quality to Draft or Normal.
  • Use both cartridges: Ensure both black and color cartridges are installed and have ink.

Update Printer Drivers

Outdated drivers can cause performance issues:
