Hello,
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer. I was trying to change the ink cartridges (951) of my HP printer but as soon as I close the door a message appears saying "The following cartridges ae not intended for use in this printer". The ink cartridges are new and original.
At first I thought the ink cartridges were damages so I went to the store and changed them but the problem continued.
Then I put the old cartridges and the printer accepted them, so I thought it was a software update issue. I checked the last firmware update of the printer and it is "CLP1CN1545AR".
The old cartridges are CN052A and the new ones are CN052AN.
The printer is connected wireless to the internet.
Can someone tell me what to do in this case? Apparently the printer is updated and the cartridges are fine so I don't know what else to do.
Thanks.

Hi @DeReza,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are getting an incompatible cartridge error message on the HP printer.
This issue could occur if the firmware is not updated.
Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.
And here are a few steps in the link to update the firmware: Firmware Update
Let me know if this works.
You have a good day ahead.

I have this same issue. I tried to download the firmware and it says up to date and will not allow me to update it.
What are other options? I have also tried several new cartridges and they all do the same thing, say incompatible ink cartridges.

Hello, @DeReza
I see that you were interacting with @Rainbow23. He is out of office and I'd like to help!
This looks like a hardware issue with the printer/cartridge. Please contact the HP Phone support to get possible printer / cartridge service options.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
Hope that helps!
Good luck 🙂

I had the same issue with my Officejet 8620. The printer would no longer accept black ink cartridges. The HP support person stated I need to buy a new printer, and the inventory of ink cartridges I have can not be used on new HP printers. The only other thing he mentioned was to disconnect the power cord and then plug back in. He wanted to sell me a new printer and ink with discounted pricing. No other suggestions. With HP customer support like that, I'm now researching Epson. I'll get a new printer this weekend.

Incompatible Ink Cartridges - I just did everything in the book and nothing works. It is definitely a major issue with everyone who is in a position where they need to change cartridges which will be everyone owning a HP Officejet Pro 8600.

All four cartridges have to be the same series !!! Mine had Z30 series cartridges which are no longer available in the US. My new 950XL cartridge was a Z10 and will not work with the Z30 color cartridges. HP will tell you to replace all Z30 with Z10 or buy a new printer. Really a "Stab in the Back" to loyal HP customers. I've always used HP products but am now considering upgrading to a new printer (NOT HP). There are BETTER printers in the market. For now, simply go the Office Depot and by their cartridges. They don't care about the HP series numbers. I bought the 950XL and it works great. GOOD BYE HP !!!!!
