I'm having issues scanning from the ADF using the control panel, scans aren't coming through. Scan from the flatbed through the control panel are coming through, though.

This issue reoccurs from time to time.
Every time this has happened, I've applied the following solution (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/HP-Officejet-9012e-Scans-from-ADF-not-getting-...😞
• From the Start menu click the Gear icon, select Apps, and uninstall the HP Basic Device Software for your printer.
• From the search bar type CMD, right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
• Copy the following command, then right-click the Command Prompt dialog and select Paste, then press Enter till any command completes.
takeown /f %windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository /r /d y
icacls "%windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" /grant %username%:(OI)(CI)F /T
for /d %G in ("%windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\hpesclscan*") do rd /s /q "%~G"
takeown /f %windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository /A /r /d y

Today, I tried reinstalling the software, but both the HP Easy Start installation (version 17.4.21 from 27 May 2026, 24.4 MB) as well as the offline HP Easy Start installation version (49.10.4644 from 12 April 2022, 310 MB) failed. They both stop at an empty white screen.

How can this be solved?

Hi @kenneth1982,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP Officejet Pro 9012e ADF scan issue is linked to driver corruption in Windows 11, and the HP Easy Start installer failing with a white screen is usually caused by Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime problems or Windows security restrictions.

Step-by-Step Fix:

Uninstall HP software completely:

Go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps and remove all HP printer-related software.

Run printui /s /t2 in CMD and delete any HP printer drivers listed.

Repair Microsoft Edge & WebView2:

Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

Select Repair. If missing, download from Microsoft: WebView2 Runtime

Clear corrupted scan drivers (your CMD script is correct).

Ensure you run CMD as Administrator.

Delete hpesclscan* folders from DriverStore\FileRepository.

Install HP drivers without Easy Start:

Go to HP Officejet Pro 9012e Drivers Official HP® Support

Download Full Feature Software and Drivers (not Easy Start).

Run the installer as Administrator.

Test ADF scanning:

Use the HP Smart app or Windows Fax and Scan.

If ADF still fails, reset printer: Settings → Printer Maintenance → Restore Defaults.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
