HP LaserJet Pro P1108 Printer
macOS 15.0 Sequoia

PC: Mac Mini 2025 with the M4 Chip

OS: Mac OS Sequoia 15.5

Printer: HP P1108 LaserJet printer

Up until now I was using the P1108 Drivers on my old MacBook Pro. Even all other HP printer are available as PLUG N PLAY. Tried downloading the latest drivers from the HP's official website, however, I was greeted with the error that the software requires Mac OS 15.0 or earlier.

I went through the forums and found this article where someone was facing a similar issue

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Laserjet-Printer-driver-won-t-open-on-M...

I tried downloading the laser jet essential drivers (Link Below) which was recommended in that post by FerRX,  the drivers were installed successfully, however 1108 is not listed in the installed drivers for me to select.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS / SUPPORT IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

Does HP have any plans on updating the driver package so that it would work with Mac OS 15.6 and higher ?

Thank you for reaching out!

I understand you're facing challenges installing the HP LaserJet Pro P1108 printer on your Mac Mini running macOS 15.5 (Sequoia). As you've observed, the official HP drivers are not compatible with macOS 15.0 or later, and the HP LaserJet Essentials driver doesn't list the P1108 model.

  1. Check for Updates:

    • Ensure that your macOS is up-to-date, as sometimes newer updates include additional printer support or drivers.
  2. Use AirPrint:

    • Many HP printers support AirPrint, which allows you to print over a wireless network without needing specific drivers.
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, and remove the existing printer if it's listed.
    • Click the + button to add a printer. Look for your printer in the list and select it. If AirPrint is supported, it will automatically select this feature.
  3. HP Easy Start:

    • Download and use HP Easy Start from the HP website. This application can help detect your printer and install the necessary software.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
  4. Generic Printer Driver:

    • In the absence of specific drivers for macOS Sequoia, you can try using a generic PCL or PostScript Printer Description (PPD) file.
    • When adding a printer via Printers & Scanners, choose Select Software... for Use dropdown option, and look for a generic driver.

I look forward to your response. If you need further assistance, please write back.
