Is it possible to get the link to download older versions of the HP Smart (older than the one released in July 2021)? Although the app store says that the latest version is compatible with MacOS High Seirra (10.13), the app keeps crashing on my older MacBook Pro running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6!

I have the exact same issue on an older imac 2010 27" inch. Intermittently it will crash and if I want to add the printer to the system in Printers and scanners in system preferences, it will not add or detect it. Even with a freshly created new user with admin rights, or just after a clean install without restoring any user data or restoring a TM backup.
Attempted to add the driver manualy but this does not work since the 5.1 download packages does not add the driver, why are you guys forcing this smart print app? The only manual update i could do was the firmware and thats it. USB or Wifi (bonjour) will not detect the printer while the App detects it, it can not hook up with the required driver in Smart print...
Kind regards,
*edit
Tried installing a universal pcl4-5 driver and if i print this just acts like it works and sends it to the printer but nothing happens.

@VS228,@vanBaardewijk Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand the HP Smart app is not working right. If you have already tried reinstalling the app from the App Store and the issue persists, use the AirPrint driver to install the printer. Older versions of the app are not available.
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Also, check for any software updates on Mac
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
Install the printer using AirPrint driver(recommended)
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
Note: Select "Bonjour multifunction" under kind while installing.
Try printing.
