HP Smart app doens't install, printer won't print.

I'm sure I'm not the first of only one with this issue :

My printer doens't print, I send a document to print but nothing happens. So I decide to uninstall and reinstall the driver. Now HP smart is removed and I'm unable to reinstall it from the Microsoft App Store. Unfortunately I keep getting the error 'Code: 0x80073CFB'

I have searched the internet for weeks an  tried every possible 'solution'. So my question is, who can I contact to solve this issue?

That error code indicated a microsoft store error of some type.  HP Smart was not correctly installed or uninstalled.

Try the follow:  Bring up the administrators command prompt,  find the product number of HP Smart and uninstall it

1 - winget show "hp smart"

2 - winget uninstall xxxxxx

You should install the full feature driver set

Hi @beemerbiker, thank you for replying to my post.

I have tried your solution but it doesn't work. After code line 1 I get a code "9WZDNCRFHWLH" but when I try to launch code line 2 (so winget uninstall 9WZDNCRFHWLH), I get the message "No installed package found matching input criteria.".

I installed the driver from the link you provided and when I try to print a document, I hear the printer start-up but he doesn't print the page.

I'm getting desperate here and even thinking about buying a new printer which will absolutely not be a HP. Ever. Again.

Something corrupted during install.  Try the following that Microsoft recommended such as clearing the app and a store reset

This seems like a Microsoft problem with a failed install.

I tried that already in the past but tried it again now. Still doesn't work, same error code. Tried to contact HP customer service but got the message "Service not available". So far their great customer service 👎

I also installend (and uninstalled) every available driver I could find for my printer (the one in your link included), but not one works. I launch the print command from a document, I hear the printer starting up and then nothing.

Getting desperate here and I wished someone of HP would take the time to answer but once the sale is made, they don't give two ... anymore about you.

At the printer, can you print a test report such as network or toner status?

make a note of the IP4 address such as 192.168.1.120  

can you contact that IP4 address from any browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox) ?

Is HP smart running on one your computers or a smart phone?

If so, bring up HP smart and try the print command and find a small PDF file to print.   HP Smart can print files directly.  For my laserjet, HP Smart can only print a file if it is PDF file.

It is possible that windows is not configured to properly form the document so the printer recognizes it.

For example, if the printer is missing a certain font and that font or fonts are not downloaded into the printer, then nothing is printed but likely a page is ejected as the printer thinks it is done printing.  This is a guess.  Typically if "unknown fonts" are sent to a printer then garbage characters are printed unless the printer is smart enough to recognize the problem and ignore the job.

You need to somehow get HP Smart working on a smartphone, laptop or desktop to diagnose the problem.

Page 7 shows how to setup HP Smart

For smartphone you need to pair it to printer as it uses Bluetooth for setup.  Bluetooth cannot be used for printing, only setup.  However, once the printer is online, HP smart can print documents or pictures from smartphone.  If it can print a document or photo then your computer has not configured the default printer correctly.

If you bring up "printers and scanners" does your printer show up either online or offline?

Hey,

This morning I was able to have someone of HP on the phone. She was able to help me. In short, I think she did a full reset of the printer via the IP adress and then reinstalled it but wireless only. That seems to do the trick.
