HP Officejet Pro 6978
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Installed HP Smart to replace HP Printer Assistant after Dell XPS PC HDD replacement.

HP Smart could not find HP Officejet Pro 6978 connected to Xfinity router/modem with Ethernet cable. PC also connected to router/modem with Ethernet cable. HP Smart suggested I reset Wi-Fi setup mode, but wireless icon on printer not lit due to Ethernet connection.

Downloaded HP Print and Scan Doctor which found printer and sent test page successfully.

Scan Doctor reported a Device Manager problem and recommended downloading full software solution, which took me back to HP Smart App installation - which I'd already installed.

Windows Control Panel sees printer and documents will print - but I cannot scan or see all the information Print Assistant used to display.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

After multiple attempts, uninstall / reinstall HP Smart, typing in multiple versions of IP address, and restarts... yesterday HP Smart just started recognizing my printer and set up properly. Hallelujah!
