Going through HP Smart: I go to set up wireless connection, do not have touchscreen thus must set it up through cable, and then it chooses the right wifi and asks for the password, and it will not let me click the textbox to type the password in. Thus, I go to "Manually enter", click the wifi, and it again will not let me type in the textbox that says "Enter Password".

@Seraphendipity

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you need help setting up the wireless connection,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you install the software & driver for the printer?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Prepare for installation

Before installing the printer software and connecting to your wireless network, check the requirements, turn on the computer and the router, and set up the printer.

  1. To use your printer on a wireless network, you need the following items:

    • A computer connected to your wireless network

    • Internet access: HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL for software downloads, using Web Services, and getting printer updates.

  2. Make sure the router and computer are turned on, and that the computer is connected to the same wireless network to which you want to connect the printer.

  3. Set up the printer, load paper into the input tray, and install the ink cartridges. For more information about setting up the printer, go to First Time Printer Setup.

  4. Turn on the printer and place it close to the computer and within range of the router during the setup procedure.

Step 2: Install the printer software

On the computer you want to print from, start the software installation, and then download and install the HP full feature print driver. It contains the wireless print drivers, as well as HP Printer Assistant software for scanning and other printer management functions.

  1. Disconnect any USB cables from the printer.

  2. Go to 123.hp.com/dj2600, and then click Download to download and run HP Easy Start.

  3. When prompted to select your printer, click My Printer Is Not Shown.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

If the above doesn't work, you may try switching from USB to wfi using the below steps:

View this video on YouTube.

  • HP Printer Setup & Software utility: Search Windows for 'HP', and then click the name of your printer in the results to open HP Printer Assistant. Click Utilities or Tools in the top menu bar, click Printer Setup & Software or Device Setup & Software, and then click Convert a USB connected printer to wireless to launch the utility.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
