I have a HP P1006 LaserJet printer.  I have a Mac Mini M2 Pro running MacOS Sequoia 15.2.  When I downloaded the drivers that were available on the HP site when I searched for my printer and tried to install them I get the error message "This update requires macOS version 15.0 or earlier.".

When I installed the HP Easy Start installer it saw my printer, but when it went out to "Search for software" it came back saying that "We were not able to locate any software options for this product..."

Any ideas?  I sure would like to get this printer to work on my Mac. It works on my Windows PC just fine.

The only way you're going to get this working is to use another mac running Ventura or Sonoma (I used Sonoma) install the HP software then share the printer with the Mac running Sequoia 15.2. Once shared in the print center it will let you install the correct drivers and you can then delete the shared printer. Worked for me on a 2017 iMac Pro running Sequoia 15.2 with an HP Laserjet SP5225.

I gave 2 hp 7006 printers to mac users for xmas. After reading the user struggles here, i plan to return them to the store. HP and Apple need to give clear solutions.

I have macOS Sequoia 15.2 and I am having similar problems. The problem appears to be related to whether or not the printer (HP 9125e) is on the same network with the computer that sources the print.

My Mac Mini is on 10.1.1.59/24 and the printer is wireless on 10.1.55.11/24.

So...if the computer is scanning for the printer, it won't find it because it is not on the same local network (10.1.1.0/24). If you add it via IP, and "select software' for the printer driver, it can't find the HP9125e Driver. If you go to the Apple HP drivers update DMG, that installation has not yet been updated for Sequoia 15.2 (says it supports 15.0 and less).

While my Mac Mini is typically only ethernet attached, it does of course have wireless capabilities. If I enable wireless on the Mac Mini and put it on the same network as the printer, no problem. I can find the printer, add, print to it.

If HP provided a printer driver NOT through HP Smart, I think I could also get it to work. But, I can't seem to find it that way.

Is there a security setting - either in the printer or in macOS Sequoia that limits the ability to print off of the local network?

I doesn't work for any macOS above 15.0. Current is 15.2.

Yes, shame on HP for not delivering an up-to-date printer driver for a one year old printer for many months now!

The only working procedure at the moment is to "print" all documents to PDF and then print the PDF file via "HP Smart".

What is going on in HP software department?

Hi @kidneutrino

Ok, if that doesn´t work you can try with a Laserjet basic driver:

But also you can follow steps from the next Apple link:

Thank you for the follow-up, but the solutions will not solve my issues. My printer continues to only to keep my desk from floating away. 😄  The first link is a third-party file share system, not with the HP company, and I must not download a file from an unverified source on my work device.  The second solution requires me to install another application that our legal department will not approve.
