Hello all. My printer is the HP Deskjet F300 all in one. My operating system is Windows Vista 32 bit. I haven't had a problem printing, but all the sudden it said to update it. I tried, but it said HP Update Software Utility Download failed. If i attempt to print anything, it will take the paper and print a blank page. It made it seem like it was actually printing something, but it just came out blank. I am able to scan something. I suppose that's it. Hopefully, you can help resolve the situation for me. Thanks in advance! Hope you and your families are well during these crazy times.

The HP Update Software is retired.
Method - Pop-Up Messages - HP Update
Reference Document
Excerpted:
HP Update, also known as the HP Software Update Utility, has been retired and is no longer providing new software updates. When HP Update checks for updates, a No new updates available message displays.
HP recommends uninstalling HP Update with the Uninstall a program feature in Windows.
Side Bar: This little application will likely sneak back onto your computer if / when you (re)install the printer software. This is especially likely if the printer software is older than the date of the retirement for the application. Rats. Just check Programs and Features for HP Update and uninstall it (again).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Need to uninstall and then reinstall your Full Feature Software / printer software?
Normally, the HP Update Software should not have caused a "no printing" situation, but who knows? It doesn't work anymore and perhaps stomped on your printer software.
If just uninstalling the HP Update Software does not fix the problem, consider reloading the printer software.
And, yes, the little beast (HP Update Software) will likely sneak back onto the computer if / when you reload the Full Feature Software - then, after you load the Full Feature Software you do have to go in and uninstall the HP Update Software again...
Hopefully, you won't get caught up in a circle.
The following Full Feature Software says it is good for both Vista 32bit and Vista 64bit.
HP Full Feature Software and Drivers
Even if you find that don't need it now, I suggest you download the software and keep it around "just in case".
In the same line of thought - this is an old printer. If you have not done before this, it is time to download and save anything you may need and keep it - the User Guide, for example.

Hello, sorry I have not replied back in a long time. I put the printer on the back burner for a bit. I gave up on the desktop, so i tried it on my lap top. All i did was plug it in to the laptop and when i tried to print something, it took the paper, but didn't print anything. I have plenty of ink, but i basically never use the printer. Could this mean it's not working because the ink is dry? or whatever... I did scan something on to the computer and that works, so that's a good sign. I didn't download anything on the laptop. For example when i installed the disc last year the proram was on the computer and the icons were on my desktop screen. Would i have to download something in order to see those things again and open up such things as the scanner, etc. Anyway, hopefully you understand and look forward to hearing from you. 🙂
