My HP Envy 5032 is in idle mode. I have tried everything to erase this mode but to no avail. The printer has been working well with no problems for four years but as soon as my IP provided me with a new router (hub) and I set that up I have had this problem. I reinstated the original router but unfortunately I still have the same problem. On this printer there is no usb socket to hard wire connect. I have downloaded new HP software, uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it again, removed ink cartridges but still the same.

@matthew7-, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Idle Mode Issues with HP Envy 5032!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It seems that the issue with your HP Envy 5032 remaining in idle mode may be related to the change in network settings when you switched routers. Here are several steps you can take to resolve this problem:
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Turn the printer back on.
Verify Network Connection
- Ensure that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
- You can check the network status directly from the printer's control panel.
- Reconnect the printer to the new router by going to the printer settings and selecting the appropriate Wi-Fi network.
Update Printer Firmware
- Check if there is any available firmware update for your printer.
- You can download the latest firmware update from the HP support website.
Reinstall Printer Software
- Uninstall all existing HP printer software from your computer.
- Download and install the most recent version of the HP printer software from the HP support website.
Check Router Settings
- Ensure that the new router’s settings are compatible with the printer's network requirements.
- Check that your network security type is supported by the printer (e.g., WPA2).
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for your reply and I will certainly try again with the suggestions you have recommended. The report from HP suggested that the printer was being restricted because of the MAC filtering system being enabled on the router which can prevent the printer connecting to the internet, which is exactly what it is doing. Also, when I try and connect to the printer the internet disables and I have to reinstate it. I have the IP engineer coming to look at it this coming Saturday, so maybe I can pick his brains.
