Updated Mac software to Ventura 13.7.5.  I no longer can connect to HP9010 printer.  Error message "bad file descriptor."  Anyone have a solution?

@TAS86,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Compatibility: Ensure that the HP9010 printer is compatible with MacOS Ventura 13.7.5. You can verify this by visiting HP's official website for information on compatibility and updates.

Update Printer Drivers: Sometimes, operating system updates require new printer drivers. Check the HP Support website for any available driver updates for the HP9010 that are compatible with MacOS Ventura.

Reset Print System:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list, then choose Reset Printing System.
  • This will remove all printers and scanner configurations, allowing you to start fresh. Re-add your HP9010 printer thereafter.

Reinstall HP Printer Software:

  • Completely remove the existing HP software from your Mac.
  • Download and install the latest version of HP printer software from the HP website.

Check Network Configuration:

  • Make sure your printer is properly connected to your network. Sometimes, Wi-Fi connection issues can lead to communication errors.
  • You may try connecting via USB to determine if the issue is network-related.

Use HP Smart App:

  • HP Smart App can sometimes offer better management of your HP printers compared to the native MacOS settings.
  • Download the HP Smart App from the Mac App Store and try adding your printer through this application.

Check for MacOS Updates:

  • Make sure your Mac system is fully updated as there might be patches or updates that could resolve compatibility issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I have the same problem.  I am Ventura 13.7.5 and my printers disappeared.  Now I can not add any printers as it says bad file descriptor. I have installed the HP smart app and it shows the printer but the computer will not connect.  I need help to be able to print again.  Thank you.
