I am going to smash this printer. Literally I cannot wait!  Website support runs you in circles with no way to create a case #. When you get to a human being: They talk over you and tell you they can’t help you without a case #. New drivers do not work for the scanner, which after latest update gave messages about damaging my computer.
will never ever ever buy an HP product again.

Thanks.  This worked for me too.

Does anyone know if deleting com.hp.devicemonitor.plist will lead to any security vulnerabilities?

I finally got through to HP only for them to tell me they could not fix it without me paying $20 and could not guarantee it would work. This company should be ashamed of itself. It offers a so called 'fix ' on its website that does NOT work. It knows of the issue and has done nothing to help the millions its effecting. If you have a mac... call them.. THEY have worked it out and are happy to help you resolve if though I did have to go through to the supervisor. Never buying an HP again and I'm sure mac wont be recommending their printers again!!!!

I could go on but same thing over and over and over.

Therg, are you entering the password you use to unlock your computer when you sign in? That's the one that worked for me.

this is the same procedure as hp walks you through.  i did it and now i get no more malware messages, but my printer simply does nothing.

I followed Tmbrown's suggestion in message #7 on page 1.  I took the monitor file and put it in trash.  Did nothing else.  The annoying "danger" notice went away, printer (HP 7100 series) is fine.  I thought, well even if I need it back, I can retrieve it from trash.  I think HP is derelict in this matter.  They have not been helpful.

Same as everyone else has reported.
