Yep, this did it (although I didn't have a standalone uninstaller for Officejet Pro 8740, nor was I able to download HP Easy Start [only available for Windows on HP support site, but Easy Admin worked]). Thanks!!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to get this right! Worked like a charm. It happened to me after I upgraded my MAC OS from Mojave to Catalina, which caused a few apps to self-destruct. Thanks, again. You did really well!

With Catalina, Apple no longer accepts 32 bit apps. Here is Apple's explanation. Canon was able to do a work around for its DR -C225. No word if HP will do so.
