Received PDE.plugin will damage computer. Uninstalled HPprinter (photosmart plus B-209) and unable to download driver for Mac. How do I proceed and also get rid of PDE.plug in messages. Old age makes this difficult to navigate. ( Both me and printer)
Thanks

Generally good approach, BUT
1) could not download from HP site (16 attempts!), server might have been overloaded. Used Zipped version from Cory Cooper at https://www.mac-help.com/threads/download-fails.227232/
2) did not use step 5, adding the printer after a successful step 4 sufficed. Printer seems to work properly.
Thank you!

77hornblower:
I just checked hp.com website and a new driver for your photosmart plus B-209 was released on 10/25/2020
Try installing it to see if that solves your problem
If not, I suggest you follow the previous posts to guide you in completely removing the HP files from your computer then installing the B-209 printer as a new device.
As a note, I tried just installing the new driver for my printer but it did not work. Once I completely removed all the HP software from my Mac then re-installed my printer as a new device everything worked. My conclusion is that just installing new drivers leaves some old residual files on the maching that will continue to generate the warning messages until they are removed.
Hope this helps

Use HP Easy Start to uninstrall all HP Software from your Mac. Post number 14 shows you how to do this. Briefly, bring up HP Easy Start and before doing anything else go to the menu bar at the top (has the apple logo on the left) clidk on HP Easy Start then select Uninstall HP Software. This will remove all the HP software and settings from your Mac. When it finishes select Set Up New Device and install your printer.
This worked for me. Hope it works for you too

I have been in contact with Apple Support this morning as the issues got worse and I was unable to print. I kept moving the error files to trash and each time I did, a different error would take its place. Apple had me go into System Preferences and Printers and Scanners. I deleted the printer with the (-) and then add it back with the (+). I kept the setting as "last used printer". Once the Printer name came up, I selected it and it was added. I successfully printed, but I cannot tell you if this was a temporary or permanent fix until I use this over a few days. Just really bummed that I could not get in touch with anyone from HP. For me, AppleCare is worth everything. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any question about what I have written here.

Same issues here. Got to where I could no longer print. I was on the phone with Apple this morning (10/28/2020). Not sure if this is a temporary or permanent fix, but I am able to print for the time being. Had to go into System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, minus the printer and then make sure last used printer is highlighted and then click the add (+) tab. When you see the name of you printer come up, select it and it will reinstall all drivers. I did a test print and it is working now. For how long I don't know. It is not a malware or virus issue. It is an incompatability issue.

I was on the phone with Apple this morning. This is not a Malware or Virus issue. Seems to be a compatibility issue with the updated OS version. Not sure if this is a temporary or permanent fix but I was able to print with no error message so far. But that could change. Apple had me go to system preferences and printers and scanners. I selected my printer and then (-) to delete it. Make sure "last used printer is highlighted and selected. Then click on the (+). When you see the name of your printer appear, select it and click "add". Then try to print something. It worked for me. Don't go to HP to download anything. Just do this first. I cannot guarantee how long it will work. I was thinking I might have to go back and restore from and older backup if this does not work. Let me know if you have a question or if it works for you.

My issue is almost the same. I can't talk to anyone at HP. Apple support told me that if what they did wouldn't resolve the issue, to talk to HP, so I'm in the vicious cycle.
I can't get any firmware to install off the HP site.
Were you able to get it installed?
