Thanks for this post! Like others, I was suddenly unable to print (InkJet Pro 8720, Mac OS 10.15.7) yesterday, getting warnings that this or that HP file was malware and would destroy my computer. I tried downloading and re-installing the driver, to no avail. The salient portion of your post, for me, was the bit about deleting the printer from "Printers & Scanners" in System Preferences, and then re-adding it. Took five seconds and completely solved the problem! Thanks again!

I'm getting the same thing.
I installed the driver, still getting the message.
It began after seeing a message Sunday (10/25/2020) on the printer that said it was downloading files and not to turn it off. I left it on.
Ever since then, I've gotten that same error message or others like it saying it will damage my computer. I downloaded Easy Start, installed, and am still getting it.
When I try to reach a human, I get a message that my warranty is expired. OK, fine, but HP did something that is screwing up my computer and printer now.

Finally got rid of the message!
I had to delete the offending files first (the message let’s you open the folder in finder) - then use the uninstall option of the easy start application - I restarted the computer (not sure that’s necessary) and then installed the drivers new. That fixed it for me....

Hi there KommIT, Followed your script and all now seems to be working OK including scanning with my Photosmart 7520. Some names seemed to have changed in things like the ink level pages but I can live with that. Running Catalina 10.15.7 on an iMac and this has lost me a load of time trying various methods to correct the problem of the warning messages constantly popping up. So well done and thanks for the info. 😀👍👏

I have the same problem and am ANNOYED the HP does not have any LIVE support to assist. I called Apple and they said that it would have to be fixed through HP. NOT HAPPY! Have you found any solution to the problem short of getting rid of HP product and buying something else.

THANK YOU!! After attempting so many options, this is the only thing that worked for me! Finding the LIBRARY was not easy, but I did it and am so happy my problem is fixed!! All other suggestions got me nowhere! Happy to have my printer back, hopefully for good!
