Had an HP Officejet 9015e printer working with Windows 10 with HP Scan and Capture Software.

Since upgrading my computer to Windows 11, I found that the HP Scan and Capture software has been discontinued and has been replaced with HP Smart Scan.

Not very pleased with HP Smart Scan and would like a solution to allow me to install the HP Scan and Capture software on my computer. Where can I obtain a copy of the HP Scan and Capture software that again would allow saved multiple user configurations for scanning collated multiple documents, flatbed, single sided, or double sided, scanning multiple pages of a document, flatbed, single sided, or double sided.

Really don't care if the software is not supported any longer, I still would like to install the software on my Windows 11 computer.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

As you know, HP Scan and Capture was retired in May 2024.

True -- HP Scan and Capture was a very popular application.

HP Smart is not a replacement for HP Scan and Capture, though the app does partially fill a void created when Scan and Capture was retired.

When the application was retired, the download was removed from the  Microsoft Store

Unfortunately, it is not a matter of not caring and just wanting, it is a matter of the app no longer being available from the Store for installation.

Can you find it anywhere else?  Perhaps -- As with all applications or software not actually from a legitimate source, do be very careful of what you allow to be downloaded and installed on your computer.

The printer does support other Print and Scan applications and software.

Some of these options do require that the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software is installed.

Should you be interested, I can provide some examples.

Thank you for your reply and information.

Please do list software that may have some of the features as HP Scan and Capture program has/had. As stated in my previous correspondence, I am not very fond of the HP Smart Scan program.

I have located a Zip file from my old computer (Windows 10) called HPEasyStart_16_7_5.exe and was wondering if this file has the HP Scan and Capture program within and after extracting. Please advise.

I will discretely search for the HP Scan and Capture software on the internet and if located, I assume that the software is compatible with Windows 11.

You mentioned "Full Feature Software / full driver printer software", how can I find out if the "Full Feature Software / full driver printer software" is already installed and if not, where can I obtain the file? Please advise.

Sorry for the confusion --  HP Scan and Capture was a unique application that, while it was available, was downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Store.  Scan and Capture is not part of -- or embedded within -- any other HP printer software.

At the time of its retirement, yes - HP Scan and Capture was compatible with Windows 11.  In fact, were were the app installed before its retirement, it would perhaps still work.  HP Scan and Capture is no longer available installation - the application did not simply stop working.  I cannot verify that an old copy of the HP Scan and Capture would work in the latest versions of Windows 11.  Regardless, that information does not help your situation; the comment is merely intended as clarification.

The EasyStart software is a wrapper that will find and install the full driver printer software for your computer.  In so much that I am aware, it matters not that your version of the EasyStart software was downloaded to a Windows 10 system.   You can use the wrapper to install your printer software.

Should you need it -- or not -- the following is relevant to installing your Printer Software --  Use the EasyStart software you already have or use the Web Pack in the example -- Either package should likely work.  The Web Pack (in the example) does not require that the printer be connected to the Internet.

Full Feature Software / Full Driver Printer Software, when installed, is present in Programs and Features.  You can also find installed software listed in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Printer Software

If you have not yet done so, install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.

NOTES:  

HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.

The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.  If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.

No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.

Reinstalling?

• Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
• If your printer includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
• Restart the computer and log in.
• If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

In general, the web pack should load -

Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator

If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.

Using USB?  (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.
