Hello. I just reinstalled my HP Office Jet 7720 printer, and I'm trying to update the firmware. When I try, there's a message that a password is required. Then a menu opens saying "Authentication" and the default user name. I set a password for my printer quite a while ago, but I've lost it and also the user name. Can I somehow reset the password or get the default password? Is it somewhere in the Registry? Can someone help?
I also opened Control Panel > Devices and Printers > HP PCL-3 B-size Printer Class Driver > HP Printer Assistant > Quiet Mode which opens the HP PCL-3 B-size Printer Class Driver Tool > Advanced Settings tab which when clicked opens Auto- Off options. I've tried to change the Auto-Off timer, but get the message, "Auto-Off change failed We are sorry but an error occurred. Please try again." It's an important issue for me because my printer keeps shutting off frequently. Could this be related to not being signed in? I've had good luck getting help on HP Forums in the past, and I'm hoping someone can help me again with this.
Thanks.
