I like your solution and I have all the downloads from previous installs but honestly its not worth the security risk to me.  I have resolved myself to use HP Scan and Capture and honestly besides not being able to see my ink levels it meets my needs.  However, when I have to purchase a replacement printer I will look for one that has the features that we all liked in Sollution Center.  HP has lost my confidence by not addressing this issue and providing customers advance notice of the issue that SC will no longer be supported due to the discontinuance of flashplayer.  It doesn't take a brain surgeon to modify the SC software to run with the new Windows10 without flash!  Can you say they don't care about customers!!!!!!!!

I don't think anyone will argue that Flash Player is not a security risk.

Since Adobe stopped supporting it after 12/31/2020, the question would be "how much of a risk"?

The major browser vendors (Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Apple) have all announced they will stop supporting

Flash Player as a plug-in after 12/31/2020.

I believe that only allowing HP Solution Center to run using Flash Player would not be that great of a risk.

I open a document in Microsoft Word.  Go to File, Print, Printer Properties, Color, Printer Services.  There is a Device Services, Information, and Estimated Ink Levels.  Under Device Services, there are Print a Diagnostic Page, Print a Test Page, Align the Print Cartridges, Clean the Print Cartridge(s), Back of Page Smear Cleaning, and Paper Feed Cleaning.  Under Estimated Ink Levels, there is a graphic showing color and blank ink levels.  I have an HP OfficeJet J4580.

I have an HP 5280 printer that will not work until I uninstall Adobe Flashplayer.  I did it not it says it won't run WITHOUT flashplater.\

How do I get my printer to work.  There has to be a way short of NOT buying an HP printer in the future.

What is the point of having a solution that is NOT a solution.  Just tell us what to do.  Your reply does NOT help.

There is NO endo of life solution.  Only MORE statements or questions.

Epson printer is my next solution.

How do I run HP Solution Center without Adobe Flash Player ?

HP Recommended

I have c4200 series and no ink levels display is shown when selecting printer properties - services.

Only clean cartridges and sling cartridge's.

Any other thoughts on how to get ink levels from 4200 series printers without HP solution center?

The real solution to this problem is to buy a new printer that is NOT HP.  Clearly HP does not care about it's customers since it did not generate a fix to their software when they were well aware Flash Player was to be discontinued.  I bought a Brother and so far am very happy with it.  But meanwhile until your new NON-HP printer arrives you can try this if you have Windows 10:

1)  Go to "Devices and Printers"

2) Right click on the icon for the HP printer and select "Printing Preferences"

3) Click on "Features"

4) Click on "Printer Services..." at the bottom

The above will open a HP WiFi Toolbox with tabs for Ink Levels, Device Services (such as clean or align printheads) and Network Settings such as IP address, etc.

Has anyone tried just reinstalling the HP Solution Center software from the original source for the working version? I'm about to try that and will let you know. For the record, I've been operating my install of HP Solution Center fine for the last three years without paying any attention at to FlashPlayer, never installing it or even noticing it. Then, I "upgraded my Office 365 install to "Microsoft 365" on my my Windows 8.1 machine, and I'm pretty sure that's what broke it. Could also have been Norton 360  but not sure. Both apps were installed at about the same time. In any case, I had zero.zero problems with HP Solution Center for years up until just yesterday, a few days after both those apps were installed/updated.

I had heard from somewhere that installing HP Solution Center from the original source CD (that came with the Printer) installs a working version of FlashPlayer that is also used solely for HP Solution Center. And that reinstalling the the HP Solution Center software from that CD will again install the working version of FlashPlayer that HP Solution Center needs without affecting or impacting any browsers. Is this true? I hope to try to find out soon. My machine, again, is Windows 8.1, not Windows 10. I'll let you know soon  here what did or did/did not work regarding reinstalling HP Solution Center.

FINALLY - one of the replies above was very helpful for my older printer, in order to read ink levels without using HP Solution Center.

I'm running Windows 10 and my printer is an HP 4280 AIO.

By installing HP Print and Scan Doctor version 5.6.1 available on HP website or you can find it via Google.... I'm now able to select the HP printer, either directly attached to my computer or in network within my computer workgroup, and once selected hitting the Next button and selecting under the Printer pull down "Supply Levels".

Yay - finally after 8 months a solution. The only thing that drives me crazy is why the hell didn't HP suggest that we do this.

Thanks HP & everyone here for your attention to this matter !!!
