Printer default preferences are locked and set to A4 paper size. Need it set to Letter (8.5 x 11).
This causes issues when printing from a web browser as the top of the page and the right side get cut off and it poses a huge problem with 2 desktops and 2 laptops connected to the network, plus any of the grand kid's phones attached at any given time.
Thanks in advance for any ideas as to how to solve this.

It seems there is no way to change the defaults so I simply made new printer shortcuts prefaced with the word Letter, for all existing shortcuts, and now I get what I need. However, anyone not familiar with my system gets confused by this. It is what it is.
Thanks for your help,

@Larrya2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
This seems like an issue with the printer driver. Perform a clean reinstallation of pre-installed HP drivers
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
- Select your HP Printer
- Select Uninstall
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
- In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
- Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
- Click on the “Drivers” tab
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
- Select Ok
- Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
- Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.
Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.
Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
Try printing.
Alternatively, you may use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your Win 10 PC(Wireless connectivity)
Click here to download and know more about the app.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I ran through the steps exactly as outlined, 3 times, and nothing changed. My paper size still defaults to A4 every time I start printing and if I forget to change it before printing I waste a lot of paper. My wife does a lot of printing too and prints from the browser are the worst as much gets left off the page. I even went so far as a factory re-set and mess up my Instant Ink account by locking the cartridges. a call to tech support got that resolved, but I can no longer access the virtual assistant...Error 403 Access Denied.

yes, I use the Smart App often and the problem is the same. I've also tried the Print Doctor as well. Ive had HP Printers since the 90's and never had this issue through any of my Windows OSs from Windows 3.1 on.

In that case, remove the existing printer entry from devices and printers and install the printer using the TCP/IP port:
- On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
- Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
- Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
- Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
- Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
- Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
- Try printing.
If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver
Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.
Keep me posted.
