Hello, I was given an HP OfficeJet 8015 printer from  a person who has left the country and I do not have contact info.  I want to use the print and sign up for instantink but I am asked for an email and password.  Is there a way to reset the administrator password or is the printer now effectively useless?

Did you never receive an answer for this? I'm in a similar situation

Hi @PaulaC2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you do not have the administrator email and password to access a used HP printer, you may still be able to use the printer by resetting it to its default settings. Here are the steps you can follow to reset your HP printer.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes before plugging the printer back in.
  • While the printer is off, press and hold the resume button until the power light begins to flash.
  • Release the resume button and press it two more times. The power light should continue to flash.
  • Press the resume button four more times, and then release it.
  • Wait for the printer to reset itself. This may take a few minutes.
  • Once the printer has finished resetting, it should be back to its default settings.

After resetting the printer, you should be able to connect to it using your computer and begin printing. However, keep in mind that resetting the printer to its default settings will erase all previous configurations, including any network settings or security settings, so you will need to set those up again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
