HP LaserJet Pro MFP M226dn
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm trying to reset my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M226dn and access system settings via the Embedded Web Server (EWS) at IP address 172.168.4.139. The home page loads, but when I attempt to navigate to System, Print, Networking, or HP Web Services, it prompts for a password and shows a warning: "Authorization required by the following IP. Your connection to this site is not secure."

I’ve tried accessing HP LaserJet Pro MFP M226dn   172.168.4.139, but only the home tab opens. I need guidance on:

  • How to reset the admin password or access system settings

  • Whether there's a default password or recovery method

  • Steps to securely access the full EWS interface

The device is self-managed,  with fax disabled and ADF installed. Any help or quick tips would be appreciated.

Administrator Options:

Startup Options:

  • Navigate to +8:Startup Options, then press the OK button.

Cold Reset:

  • Use the arrow buttons to find and select 2:Cold Reset, then press the OK button.
