@JHW-Los_Angeles, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To scan with your HP OfficeJet Pro on macOS 10.13 High Sierra, follow these steps:

Option 1: Use HP Smart App (Recommended if supported)

  1. Download HP Smart from the Mac App Store or HP Smart
  2. Open the app and add your printer if it’s not already listed.
  3. Click on “Scan” from the home screen.
  4. Adjust scan settings (source, resolution, format) and click “Scan”.
  5. Save or share the scanned document as needed.

Option 2: Use Apple’s Built-in Image Capture App

  1. Open Image Capture (found in Applications > Image Capture).
  2. Select your HP OfficeJet Pro from the list of devices on the left.
  3. Choose the scan settings (e.g., resolution, format, destination folder).
  4. Click “Scan” to begin.

This method uses Apple’s built-in drivers (AirPrint), which are compatible with many HP printers.

Option 3: Use HP Easy Scan (if available)

  1. Download HP Easy Scan from HP official site or the Mac App Store.
  2. Install and open the app.
  3. Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to scan.

Note: HP Easy Scan may not be supported on all models or macOS versions.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Ensure your printer is connected via USB or the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  • If your printer doesn’t appear, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click the “+” button, and add your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
