@JHW-Los_Angeles, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To scan with your HP OfficeJet Pro on macOS 10.13 High Sierra, follow these steps:
Option 1: Use HP Smart App (Recommended if supported)
- Download HP Smart from the Mac App Store or HP Smart
- Open the app and add your printer if it’s not already listed.
- Click on “Scan” from the home screen.
- Adjust scan settings (source, resolution, format) and click “Scan”.
- Save or share the scanned document as needed.
Option 2: Use Apple’s Built-in Image Capture App
- Open Image Capture (found in Applications > Image Capture).
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro from the list of devices on the left.
- Choose the scan settings (e.g., resolution, format, destination folder).
- Click “Scan” to begin.
This method uses Apple’s built-in drivers (AirPrint), which are compatible with many HP printers.
Option 3: Use HP Easy Scan (if available)
- Download HP Easy Scan from HP official site or the Mac App Store.
- Install and open the app.
- Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to scan.
Note: HP Easy Scan may not be supported on all models or macOS versions.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Ensure your printer is connected via USB or the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
- If your printer doesn’t appear, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click the “+” button, and add your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
