How to update printer certificate?

Here’s how you can move forward with refreshing or importing a new certificate for your HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw:

 

🔒 Steps to Update the Printer's Certificate

 

Step 1: Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Make sure your printer is connected to the network.
  • Open a web browser on your computer.
  • In the address bar, type your printer’s IP address (you can find this by printing a configuration page from the printer).
  • Press Enter to load the EWS interface.

Step 2: Sign In

  • Log in using the administrator credentials (default username might be blank, and default password could be "admin" unless changed).

Step 3: Navigate to the Security Settings

  • Go to the Networking or Security tab depending on your firmware version.
  • Look for Certificates or SSL/TLS Settings under that section.

Step 4: Manage the Certificate

  • You’ll see options to:
    • Create a self-signed certificate
    • Import a CA-signed certificate
    • Renew or replace existing certificate

Step 5: Install or Update

  • If you're installing a new certificate:
    • Choose "Import certificate"
    • Upload the .crt or .pem file as provided by your Certificate Authority.
  • If renewing:
    • Click on the existing certificate and follow prompts to generate or upload a new one.

Step 6: Save and Restart

  • Click Apply/Save to finalize.
  • Restart the printer to apply the changes.

If you encounter trouble accessing the EWS or the certificate options appear greyed out, a firmware update might be needed first. And I know—this kind of thing can be tricky and a bit tedious.
