Hi,
I am trying to install my deskjet 2130 on my macos Big Sur. If i go to system preferences my mac does fin the computer but is does not print. If i go to support.hp.com it tells me to install HP easy start. When i open the app, it finds the printer, but doesn't install the driver because it has a better software option available for me: HP Smart.
I download HP Smart and this app does not find the printer while the HP easy smart and system preferences do find the printer.
Does anybody have an idea how to fix this?
I have downloaded/restarted/uninstalled/reinstalled
thanks

@Nils86, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to install the printer on the mac. According to the printer specifications, this model printer does not support AirPrint or HP Smart.
-
If your printer is connected to your Mac with a cable, disconnect the cable from your Mac.
-
Turn off your printer.
-
Get software updates for your Mac. Your Mac automatically downloads the latest software for most printers as part of these updates
-
Reconnect your printer to your Mac, if applicable.
-
Turn on your printer and wait for it to finish starting up.
-
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.
-
Select your printer in the list of devices.
-
If your printer doesn't appear in the list of devices in Printers & Scanners preferences, click + at the bottom of the list, then choose the command to add a printer or scanner.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Kumar0307,
thanks for the reply.
I have tried this. The mac does recognise the printer and it sees when it is on or off. When i try to print it appears in the print queue for 0,5sec and than disappears with nothing printed coming out of the printer.
greets, Nils

I understand the Mac detects the printer but you are unable to print.
Make sure the cable is directly connected between the Mac and the printer.
The use of a USB hub is not recommended. Also, make sure the cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac.
Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac? If yes, disable the same for time being.
To check, select the Go menu on the top of the screen and go to the Applications folder.
- Check if the printer is getting recognized by your Mac:
- From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.
- Click System Report.
- Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB.
Try printing a test page as shown in this document - Printing a Self-Test Page
Let me know how it goes.
