Hi @Goofygirldog,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is not accepting the PIN during setup, especially when trying to connect it over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, here are the steps to fix the issue:

What PIN Are You Being Asked For?

1. WPS PIN (for Wi-Fi Setup)

  • This is usually shown on the printer’s screen or printed on a label on the printer.
  • If your printer has a display, it will show the WPS PIN when you try to connect it to Wi-Fi.
  • If it doesn’t have a screen, press and hold the Wi-Fi or Information button to print a configuration page with the PIN.

2. Bluetooth or Windows Security PIN

  • Windows may ask for a PIN to pair the printer. This is often a default code like 0000 or 1234.
  • If that doesn’t work, cancel the pairing and try adding the printer through Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

For WPS PIN:

  1. On the printer, go to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Protected Setup > PIN.
  2. An 8-digit PIN will appear. Enter this on your PC when prompted.
  3. If the PIN expires, repeat the steps to generate a new one.

For Bluetooth PIN:

  • Try entering 0000 or 1234.
  • If that fails, remove the printer from Devices and Printers, restart your PC, and try again.

Use HP Smart App (Recommended)

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
