Hi @jp2406

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're having trouble with the driver for your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 on your Windows 11 computer.

Here's how you can resolve this:

Download the Correct Driver:

Install the Driver:

  • Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Restart your computer after the installation is complete.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store. This app can help you set up your printer, install drivers, and troubleshoot issues.

Check Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes, Windows can automatically find and install the necessary drivers.

Manually Add the Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner and follow the prompts to manually add your printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • If the issue persists, reset the printer to its factory settings and try setting it up again.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
