HP Laser MFP 135w
Microsoft Windows 11

I am having trouble accessing the web settings panel of the HP MFP 135W printer, because when I try to log in with my ID and password, the message “The login IP address is protected” appears. I have tried using the default login “admin,” but it seems that the printer is locked with another password. I need guidance on how to restore access, preferably with a complete reset that returns the printer to its factory settings, deleting all current data.

Can someone help me to solve it?

@mkin, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Restoring the Factory Settings on HP Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you need to perform a complete reset that returns your HP MFP 135W printer to its factory settings, follow these general steps:

Method 1: Using the Printer Control Panel

Access the Control Panel: For most HP printers, there is an option to reset to factory settings either through the menu or buttons on the control panel.

Navigate to Reset Options: Look for an option labelled 'Restore Defaults' or similar under settings or maintenance.

Follow Instructions: Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the reset.

Method 2: Using HP Printer Assistant for Direct-connected Printers

Open HP Printer Assistant: From your computer, open HP Printer Assistant using the instructions specific to your operating system:

  • Windows 10: From the Start menu, click All Apps, click HP, and then select the printer name.
  • Windows 8.1: Click the down arrow in lower left corner of the Start screen, and then select the printer name.

Access HP Device Toolbox: In the HP Printer Assistant, select Print, and then HP Device Toolbox.

Restore Defaults: Use the Restore Defaults feature to return all settings to factory defaults.

Method 3: Using HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) for Network-connected Printers

Print a Configuration Page: To determine the IP address or host name, press and hold the Resume button until the Ready light begins blinking and then release it.

Access EWS: Open a web browser and type the IP address exactly as it appears on the configuration page to access the EWS.

Restore Defaults: On the System tab, click Save and Restore in the left navigation pane. In the Restore Defaults area, click the Restore defaults button. The printer will automatically restart.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
