HP ENVY 7645
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have an HP ENVY 7645 all-in-one printer networked on my home LAN. My wife and I have been successfully sharing this printer for about two years. Recently however she purchased a new iMac running their latest operating system (10.14.2  Mojave) and her new computer cannot find the printer on our network - even when we tell it the IP address. I am still able to access the printer over the LAN with my PC and my wife is still able to access the printer over the lan with her Mac laptop.

I have tried downloading the recommended driver from the HP website (123.hp.com/ENVY7640) but installing this driver evidently requires that the computer first find the printer on the LAN and it can't, even when we tell it the IP address!

I'm stymied. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I got to know from your post that the Mac computer is not able to locate the wireless connected printer and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Do you have a 5GHz network enabled on your WiFi router?

Approximately how far is the printer located from the WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test.

Thank you for your interest in my issue. I have since been able to solve the problem on my own. However, I'm not exactly sure how I did it. I simply tried doing some of the same things I had already done, except this time they worked. I'm confused, but happy the ordeal is over. I wish I could explain why what I did worked this time and not on previous attempts, but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth!
